Nicholas began his career in 1995 and acquired his passion for interior design as a Design Consultant and Project Manager for the new construction of a vacation residence at The Sea Ranch in California.
Nicholas Proietti has expanded his knowledge and skills by working with three of the nations top interior designers: Michael S Smith, Donna Livingston, and Thomas C. Achille. Individually their interiors have been published in well known international magazines such as Elle Décor, Architectural Digest, Veranda, House and Garden, British House and Garden, The Robb Report, Town & Country, Domino, Los Angeles Magazine, California Homes, Boat International and Showboat International as well as two books from Michael S Smith.
His most recent employment with Michael S Smith held the title of Senior Designer/Vendor Liaison. As Senior Designer, he managed new construction, remodels, and installations for multi-million dollar residences across the nation and in Mexico. As Vendor Liaison he was responsible for maintaining all current and new vendor relationships ensuring effective communication, invoicing, and Overseeing the business relationships. Previously, with Donna Livingston he was the Designer/Project Manager for several million dollar residences and specifically an 8,000 square foot private residence at the Ritz-Carlton Central Park Residences in New York which was published in Architectural Digest January, 2005 Read More.
As a Project Manager/Designer for five years, he frequently worked directly with the clients and Architects. Together he oversaw custom construction, as well as coordinating the delivery and installation of museum quality artwork, custom draperies, custom furniture, personal affects and accessories for "Turn Key" installations.
At Achille and Associates (1999 - 2002) Nicholas' work included two luxury yachts:
- 330-foot custom luxury Motor Yacht, "TATOOSH", built in Hamburg, Germany (completed in 2000). Nicholas assisted the company owner and senior designer with approving custom fabric, custom carpeting, and custom furniture orders, furniture inventory control using digital photography, and expediting orders. He worked as liaison coordinating international shipping and storage for complete furniture installation in Germany - a two year project.
- 110-foot custom luxury Motor Yacht "WATERFORD III" (refit) built in Seattle. Nicholas' duties included furniture selection, lighting selection, working directly with independent contractors for re-upholstery and new window treatments, and generating purchase orders.
Other projects include: luxury private residences in Tucson, Arizona; Marina Del Rey; Agoura Hills; Westlake Village; Hollywood Hills and Manhattan Beach in California. During his tutelage, with Achille and Associates Nicholas was the Project Manager responsible for selecting client schemes, shopping for client presentations, designing custom furniture, and managing installations. Tasks also included working with audio/visual engineers (for custom systems) and window covering fabricators. He created design books for presentation, making fabric and furniture reserves, and he approved ordered fabrics, furniture upholstery and custom finishes.
As Office Manager with Achille, Nicholas was responsible for supply purchasing and reorganizing the showroom library. With all designers he gained extensive knowledge of MAC software and operating systems, as well as PC software such as Studio, Design Manager, Office, and Windows XP and Vista operating systems.
